Laura Gaisie was born in High Point, North Carolina in 1971. At the age of 5, her family moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey, where she and her siblings alternated between city life and rural living on her grandparent's small farm in McKee City, New Jersey. After graduating from high school, she relocated to Covina, California.

 

Laura returned to North Carolina in 1995, after giving birth to her first child. In 1997, she married her first husband and soon had her second child. In 2000 she enrolled in High Point University and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with an emphasis in mental health. After her first marriage ended she relocated to Austin, Texas to work for the State. She returned to California in 2006 to marry her current husband.

She has participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) writing contest for the past five years and has won the last four years. She coaches aspiring writers in, The Writing Room (a book coaching program). She is the owner of, Purple Pearls Publishing (an independent publishing company).

 

She is co-founder and Executive Director of a nonprofit, Authors Inside, an organization that provides writing resources and publishing services to incarcerated authors. She has a master's degree in Public Administration with an emphasis on nonprofits.
